The student council at the Plain City Elementary is a student government body that keeps quite busy. Each classroom in grades 1-4 has two representatives. Some of the service projects the student council have participated in include collecting canned goods for holiday food baskets, picking up trash on our school grounds, and weeding and beautifying our landscape on Earth Day. The student council has sold candy and other items to raise money for charity, or to purchase items for classrooms and the school. Fun activities in which the entire school can participate, such as Rainbow Week and Western Day, are also planned by the student council.
The Parent Teacher Organization meets monthly on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Several fund-raisers are held annually to provide books, supplemental materials and equipment for the school.
In addition, teacher led programs, often involving students, are presented during the meetings. This allows parents an opportunity to experience instructional offerings.
Parents also have the opportunity to volunteer on standing committees, as well as helping our teachers in the classroom setting.
The P.T.O. has something to offer everyone. We encourage you to become a member, help Plain City Elementary School, and make new friends along the way! (Calendar follows.)
