Principal's Message

Dear Visitor,
Our mission at Canaan Middle School is "As Canaan Pioneers we promise to care for ourselves and others by respecting and valuing our differences while empowering one another to take risks, achieve excellence and have fun!"
Canaan Middle School is an exciting place to be! Our school is the first time that students within the Plain City community merge into one. For the 2018-19 school year, Canaan Middle School has 167 6th grade students and 175 5th grade students.

At Canaan we believe the components that make up a successful school include: the school as a community, climate for learning, curriculum with coherence and commitment to character. Our staff, students and school community work to provide various opportunities that create a positive experience for our students. We hope we create positive life long memories for our students and families in addition to challenging and engaging our students as learners!

Wonderful learning opportunities are presented to our students each day. Our staff at Canaan Middle School collaborate on teaching and learning opportunities to ensure our students are provided experiences that promote 21st century skills within all content areas.  A focus for the 2018-19 school year will be teaching our student's about developing a Growth Mindset. Students will apply these skills to their learning throughout the school year and our students will be involved with our new course, titled Career Connections.  This course is being offered to our students in a partnership with Tolles Career Center. We are thankful that our students will have this opportunity to learn about their future.

Proud Pioneer,
