I began my teaching career at Jonathan Alder in 1986 and have taught every subject in grades 5 and 6. Currently, I am the Gifted Invention Specialist and Gifted Coordinator at Jonathan Alder. Keeping up with their creative ideas and questions keeps me busy, but I have the best job in the district!
Outside the classroom, I am involved in many district activities. My favorite activity is the Sixth Grade Outdoor Education Program held in the Hocking Hills area every May. I also help direct the CMS play, organize the Geography Bee, co-host the Reading Club, and help coach the Robotics Club.
I received my bachelor of arts in elementary education from Ohio Wesleyan University. I received my master's degree in gifted education from Ashland University.
My husband, Scott, is a geologist who frequently can be seen volunteering throughout our school district. My 2 talented step-daughters live in Vermont and California. Both are involved with educating young people in different settings.
In my spare time, I enjoy bicycling and hiking. I am happiest when I can combine either of these activities with ice cream! I am an avid reader with a very active Amazon account! I enjoy sharing my love of reading with students.
