Plain City Elementary, with nearly 700 students is located on the Southern edge of the Village of Plain City. We serve preschool through fourth-grade students.
Our staff members make the safety and well-being of our students their number one priority. We place a heavy emphasis on math, reading, and writing. Students receive instruction in technology and there are new computers in every classroom, 4 carts of Chromebooks, 2 carts of iPads, and a 30-station Tech Lab. In addition, the students take classes in music, physical education and art and library. Students enjoy field trips each year, and educational assemblies are provided throughout the year. Students take part in service projects to help our neighbors and friends in other parts of the world. We are in our twelfth year of providing a theater program for our students, co-directed by Mrs. Dietry, Miss Geyer, and Mrs. Mitchell.
The Plain City Elementary faculty takes pride in the fact that over 90% of our teachers hold Masters degrees. Many of our teachers have been with the district their entire career. We are dedicated to developing the whole child and are particularly proud of the fact that we earn top marks from the State Department of Education. As principal and lifelong resident of the community, I firmly believe that the Jonathan Alder School District is a great place to live and raise a family. We are situated in a rural setting just outside Columbus. We have a very active P.T.O. that supports the school by providing events such as C.O.S.I. On Wheels and annual visits from author/illustrators. Volunteers are always welcome in our school! Parents, grandparents, and community members make our school stronger through their dedicated support of our academic program and support of fundraising efforts.
