August 5 - Anticipated Opening Pathway & Reopening Update 
 

Jonathan Alder Families,

As a district, we are diligently working to update and refine our plans for the upcoming school year.  Here are the Education Plans, Pathways & Decision Framework for Reopening (JALSD Planes de educacio´n y caminos 2020-21) we shared previously.  On Friday afternoon, you will receive specifics from your child’s building principal as to how our plans will look in each building.

The deadline for Option 2: Jonathan Alder Digital Academy (JADA) has been moved back to the end of the day Monday, August 10.

We anticipate returning to school on Monday, August 24 under Pathway 1B - Hybrid 50% Capacity, however, we may have to implement various Pathways throughout the school year.  Please refer to the Decision Framework (pgs. 3&4) on how and why a Pathway may be implemented. Information regarding specific building Orientations and Open House dates and format will be forthcoming. Student assignments for Pathway 1B are being established for the district as follows:

  • Students with last names A-K will be Group A and students with last names L-Z will be Group B.
  • Group A will attend in-person school on Monday and Tuesday and will be engaged in online learning Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Group B will be engaged in online learning Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and attend in-person school on Thursday and Friday.
  • Students with qualifying exceptions and/or anomalies as determined by the Department of Student Services may have an alternative schedule. Families will be contacted by the Director of Student Services should this apply to their child, Preschool-12th grade. 

We understand that conflicts are inevitable and would like to accommodate if possible. However, we cannot promise that all requests for a change can be made.  If you have a hardship and need to request a change in your child's Hybrid Group A or B assignment, please complete this form by August 12.  Principals will work diligently to try to accommodate your request.

If there is flexibility in your family schedule and you are open to switching days, we would also appreciate it if you could indicate that on the form. All changes will be communicated and confirmed by the building principal.


A Preschool FAQ can be found here. We will continue to keep you updated as the Ohio Department of Education finalizes their guidance for Preschool programs. 


All of our plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and updates, guidance and orders received from public health and government officials. We will continue to share more details throughout the next several weeks as we are able. We also encourage you to continue to visit our district website for updates and information. If you have specific questions regarding the start of school, please contact your building principal.

July 16 - Updated Education Plans for Reopening 2020-21
 
Please see the documents linked below, containing more details about Jonathan Alder's educational options and pathways for the 2020-21 school year, the decision framework for reopening, and our health and safety plan as aligned to the Madison County Health Department guidelines
 
Due to additional staff training and professional development needs regarding safety and adjustments to instructional delivery we are moving the first day of school for students from Wednesday, August 19 to Monday, August 24. 
 
Our individual building reopening teams anticipate releasing the respective details of their return to school plans the first week in August.  As we all know, these plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and updates, recommendations and guidance received from public health and government officials.  We will continue to update this page on our website with the most up-to-date information.

  July 3 - State Guidance Released, Playgrounds Open
We will be meeting with local health officials to discuss the guidance released by the State yesterday afternoon & continue to plan for the fall. We will share more details soon.

School playgrounds are now open. Please be mindful of others & maintain social distancing.

 June 19 - Two Options for 2020-21
We hope to begin the 2020-21 school year on August 19 with all of our students. We know our community values the Alder experience and desires for students to return to our schools safely. However, with the continually updated guidelines due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are also preparing contingency plans for intermittent shutdowns and/or reductions in capacity and offering the Jonathan Alder Digital Academy (JADA).

The document below provides an overview of the two options families have for the fall. We will continue to share details throughout the summer and will ask you for a decision at a later date. We will also be updating this page with the most up-to-date information.
