Update - Full-Time In-Person Education Plans

We are extremely proud and grateful for the outstanding work of our Jonathan Alder teachers, and because of them, we have been able to continue to provide a quality education due to their tireless efforts and dedication to our students and families.

We are looking forward to the return of our K-4 grade students at both Monroe and Plain City Elementary Schools to full-time in-person education on Monday, September 28.  Wednesday, September 30 is designated as a Professional Development Day for the district.

It is important to recognize the unique demands and challenges which have been forced upon our teachers and staff by the pandemic.  As with any type of change, transitions are crucial to achieving success and our teachers have been instrumental in safely transitioning to in-person learning.

In working together with our teachers we find it necessary to provide the appropriate time and support in providing quality in-person and online instruction.  As a result, Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14 will be used as remote learning days for all K-12 grade students.  These days will be utilized to provide time for team planning, strengthening of our online teaching strategies and content delivery while assessing health and safety protocols.

Monday, October 12 is the anticipated return date for our 9-12 grade students at Jonathan Alder High School.  As shared above, Wednesday, October 14 will be a remote learning day for all high school students.  This day will also allow our high school teachers and staff time to refine and adjust student schedules, bus routes, class, and lunch procedures as necessary in returning to full-time.

All students attending Monroe Elementary, Plain City Elementary and Jonathan Alder High School will attend in-person five (5) days a week beginning October 19.  As shared previously, we continue to evaluate our return to school plans and have not finalized an anticipated return date for students attending Canaan Middle School and the Jonathan Alder Junior High School.

Your cooperation in adhering to the health and safety protocols are essential as we continue to transition to full-time.  Please know that we are working to ensure that all students return safely and can hopefully remain in school.

On behalf of the Board and administration, we would like to simply say thank you for your support and flexibility as we continue to navigate the ongoing challenges associated with the pandemic.

All of our plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and updates, guidance and orders received from public health and government officials.
