JAJHS students at Tomb of Unknown Soldier

It was a special week for some JAJHS 8th grade students as they participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. This week, many of our students are visiting Washington, DC, on our annual 8th grade trip.

The trip is packed with tours and visits to some of the top landmarks in our nation’s capital. Sites include the US Capitol Building, a number of museums, and the major memorials and landmarks around the city.

One special visit is to Arlington National Cemetery to learn about those who have paid the ultimate price for our country. Four JAJHS students were selected to participate in the special wreath-laying ceremony between the Changing of the Guard ceremonies.

Nolan Beeson, Liam Harpster, Kenna Dietry, and Rose Rauh were selected from their peers through a contest of submitted work. These four students represented our school, district, and community with honor and pride as they placed a wreath marked, “Jonathan Alder JHS” at the tomb. This was a special moment for these students and their peers to honor our nation’s veterans!
