Innovation is a tradition at Jonathan Alder Local Schools. We are committed to providing students with new opportunities that help them thrive and learn. This is our consistent and historic commitment as we continue to elevate our future.

New this school year, our kindergarten through sixth-grade students are exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) standards using an integrated approach in our library spaces. Each class will rotate through a six- to nine-week curriculum with hands-on activities and Future Ready skills. Traditional experiences, such as read-aloud books, remain a priority. However, we are purposefully pairing these opportunities with activities that enable students to delve deeper into their understanding of key concepts.

This approach also allows us to maximize resources by providing exclusive access to materials that are not easily replicated for multiple classrooms. Students will engage with mini-robots, science experiments, and more in a space that offers the flexibility to shift and adjust as needed. For example, elementary students are using Ozobot robots to learn about weather, fifth-grade students are building bat houses, and sixth-grade students are using biomimicry to solve real-world problems and create new inventions.

This new opportunity demonstrates Jonathan Alder Local Schools' commitment to valuing our past, investing in today, and elevating the future.

We are seeking volunteers to help in our elementary school libraries! Please email conleysh@japioneers.org to find out more! We have lots of days and times available! Volunteers would help our Library Innovation Assistants with library activities! Come enjoy our library spaces and watch our students learn!
