Monroe Elementary students received a special treat on Friday, October 17th, when the Jonathan Alder High School Creative Writing class paid them a visit.
This visit marked the exciting culmination of a unique cross-grade project. The high school students wrote original books, and the first and fourth-grade students collaborated to bring those stories to life through beautiful illustrations.
During the visit, the high school writers had the opportunity to read their finished books to the MES students. Following the reading, the groups worked together on additional writing activities, fostering a shared love for storytelling and literacy across grade levels.
This partnership was a wonderful example of collaborative learning within our district. It gave the younger students a chance to see their work in a published format and provided the high school students with the rewarding experience of sharing their creative talents.
