At its October 14th meeting, the Board of Education reviewed the district’s 2024–2025 State Report Card results, which highlighted a year of strong academic achievement and continued student growth. The district proudly announced an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, placing it in the highest tier of performance and signifying that it Exceeds state standards.
District leaders expressed immense pride in the collective efforts of the community. "We are extremely proud of our students and staff for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence," said Mrs. Quick, assistant superintendent.
Key Highlights of the 2024-25 State Report Card
Overall Rating
Jonathan Alder Local Schools received an overall 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is an increase from the 4 stars we received in 2024 and demonstrates continued improvement to meet our goals.
Achievement
This component examines specific testing data and if students met the standards set by the state.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools remained strong with 4 stars.
Eleven testing areas demonstrated improvement above last year’s results (third grade math, fourth grade reading, fourth grade math, sixth grade reading, sixth grade math, eighth grade reading, 8th grade math, Algebra, US History, Biology and Geometry).
Seven areas achieved 80 percent or high passage rates (third grade math, 4th grade math, eighth grade science, Biology, Algebra, US History and Government)
Seven testing areas are above the Similar District Average, the group of 20 school districts in Ohio that are most similar to Jonathan Alder Local Schools (sixth grade reading, sixth grade math, seventh grade math, eighth grade reading, eighth grade math, eighth grade social studies and Biology).
Performance Index improved from 94.1 to 95.9
The Performance Index improved to 11th position within the Similar Districts Average and the top 22% of school districts in Ohio.
Progress
This component measures growth over time towards students achieving specific goals.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools saw an increase from 3 stars in 2024 to 4 stars in 2025. This places them among the top 35 percent of Ohio school districts.
12 measurements are above growth (fifth grade reading, fifth grade math, sixth grade math, seventh grade reading, seventh grade math, eighth grade science, Biology, Geometry, Overall, Gifted and SWD).
Gap Closing
This component explores how well schools are reducing educational disparities among different groups of students. There are 11 specific measurements including areas such as Gifted, Chronic Absenteeism, Math and English scores, Progress among those learning to speak English and Graduation Rate.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools remained strong at five stars. Only 33% of Ohio school districts achieved at this top level.
Met the Gifted Progress standard for the past 5 years.
Met the Gifted Performance Index standard and the Gifted Progress standard, again placing the district among the top 22 percent of school districts in Ohio.
Met the Chronic Absenteeism standard for the last three years, only ⅓ of Ohio school districts achieved this standard.
All Math subgroups met their progress standards. In fact, every math subgroup was above growth standards.
Graduation Rate
This component considers the number of students that graduate high school within four or five years to create a weighted graduation rate.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools earned four stars.
The four-year graduation rate is above the state average.
The five-year graduation rate is above the state and similar district average.
Early Literacy
This component combines three separate metrics: Third Grade Reading Proficiency, Improving Literacy Percentage and Promotion to Fourth Grade.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools earned three stars.
Promotion to fourth grade improved to 100 percent.
Improving Literacy Rate continues to improve with an 8.6% increase over 2024 levels. In fact, more than 50 percent of students who were “off track” in the 2023-24 school year moved to “on-track” in 2024-25 for kindergarten through third grade.
College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness
This is the first year for this component. It measures ACT Remediation-Free, Students with 12+ Semester Hours, Students with 12 pt Industry-Recognized Credentials, Students Graduating with Honors Diplomas, AP Scores, Technical Assessment Proficiency and Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal.
Jonathan Alder Local Schools earned three stars.
The percentage of students who are ACT remediation-free decreased.
Technical Assessment Proficiency improved.
The percent of students earning 12 pt Industry-Recognized Credentials increased significantly.
