A big shout-out to our two 4th grade students who created an interactive Gratitude Tree during Thanksgiving Break! They brought it in to share with Monroe, and students have loved adding their notes of appreciation.

Students in our EL class had the opportunity to hear from our district interpreter, Enmanuel Coronado, about the many benefits of being bilingual. Our students loved asking questions and learning from his experiences!

Due to inclement weather and dangerous driving conditions, Jonathan Alder Local Schools will be CLOSED on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Please continue to follow the district website and social media channels for any additional updates.

It has been a fun two days of school this week! Monroe students rotated through eight different Makerspace stations with their House Teams. The activities included:
Pumpkin Launcher
The Great Turkey Escape with Dash
Gross Motor Activities in the Gym – parachute, blue blocks, and an obstacle course
Breakout EDU Game
Mosaic Design Challenge
Fall Craft – tissue paper fall tree
Puzzle and Board Game Room
Balloons Over Broadway – foil balloon creations

Our preschool students enjoyed learning about firefighting from a Norwich Firefighter today. This is the end of their unit about different jobs people have.

Due to dense fog and dangerous driving conditions, Jonathan Alder Local Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Friday, November 21, 2025. Please continue to follow the district website and social media channels for any additional updates.

So proud of our Monroe 4th graders! 🇺🇸 They took part in the Veterans Day Assembly at JAHS—reading poems and presenting certificates to our Veterans. A beautiful way to say thank you for your service!

Connecting our "Best Days" for a Future Ready school year! 🤝 Our staff spent professional development time on Nov. 4 diving deep into what makes learning truly irresistible through the "Best Days" activity. By identifying the conditions that make "magic happen" in the classroom, we're investing in our students and staff to elevate our community!
This shared reflection is all about strengthening the connections between our instructional strategies and optimal learning experiences. We believe in the value of every life and are committed to supporting each person's potential to contribute to our future. ✨

Our Monroe teachers are dressed to impress and ready to make today unforgettable!

Our littlest Pioneers had a blast celebrating fall today.

📢 Happy National Principals Month! 📢
To celebrate, we’re kicking off our daily series this week by shining a light on one of our incredible leaders, Mrs. Paige!
Did you know she’s a Pioneer through and through? She, her parents, and her sister all graduated from JA! Talk about Pioneer Pride! ❤️🖤
When she’s not leading Monroe Elementary, you might find her:
Lost in a great book 📚, Dancing at a Dave Matthews Band concert with her husband and son 🎶 , or Taking her adorable mini Labradoodle, Cinder, for a walk 🐾
We're so lucky to have a principal who loves working with our amazing students, staff, and families every single day.
Join us in celebrating all our amazing school leaders this month! 🎉

The Monroe preschool students had a fun day painting and learning all about pumpkins! 🎨 A special thank you to our wonderful Preschool Paraprofessional, Mrs. Thiergatner, who grew the pumpkins at her family farm. The students loved getting creative and painting their very own pumpkins!
📚 Fourth graders teamed up with first graders to read and illustrate books written by our high school students! What an amazing cross-grade collaboration! 💛
