Monroe’s 4th graders had an unforgettable morning at Canaan Middle School! ⛸️☕
Students enjoyed ice skating, warming up with hot chocolate, and diving into engaging Think Big activities. It was an awesome opportunity to explore their future school while learning, laughing, and making memories together. We loved seeing our students step into new experiences and have so much fun along the way! 🎉

For the next 6 weeks, our students will enjoy fun-filled winter learning stations during library time! These hands-on activities build creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while keeping learning exciting.
✨ Winter Library Stations:
❄️ Create snowflakes with pipe cleaners and beads while learning patterns
🏠 Build a winter habitat using cardboard and recyclable materials
🤖 Explore coding with the Osmo app on iPads and coding mice
❄️ Create a snow globe and write a winter-themed story
🧩 Take on the Rubik’s Cube challenge

Today we held our holiday House Meeting, and it was a fun-filled time for everyone! Students worked together to decorate gingerbread houses and enjoyed some friendly competition during a bell relay game. Watching our House Teams grow, collaborate, and build relationships continues to be such a joy. 🎄🔔
All aboard! 🚂❄️ Monroe Elementary’s preschool students enjoyed a fun-filled day centered around The Polar Express, full of excitement, imagination, and holiday cheer.
Our gifted 3rd and 4th graders from Plain City and Monroe Elementary teamed up today to make holiday cards for local seniors. Love seeing our students give back!
A big shout-out to our two 4th grade students who created an interactive Gratitude Tree during Thanksgiving Break! They brought it in to share with Monroe, and students have loved adding their notes of appreciation.
Students in our EL class had the opportunity to hear from our district interpreter, Enmanuel Coronado, about the many benefits of being bilingual. Our students loved asking questions and learning from his experiences!

It has been a fun two days of school this week! Monroe students rotated through eight different Makerspace stations with their House Teams. The activities included:

The Great Turkey Escape with Dash
Gross Motor Activities in the Gym – parachute, blue blocks, and an obstacle course
Breakout EDU Game
Mosaic Design Challenge
Fall Craft – tissue paper fall tree
Puzzle and Board Game Room
Balloons Over Broadway – foil balloon creations
Our preschool students enjoyed learning about firefighting from a Norwich Firefighter today. This is the end of their unit about different jobs people have.

We know you love wearing your Jonathan Alder gear, and you absolutely should! Simply incorporate a shade of blue with small accessories, such as:
💙 Blue accessories (jewelry, pins, scarves)
💙 Blue footwear (socks, laces)
💙 Blue clothing underneath (undershirts)
