Message from the Superintendent

Our master facilities planning work continues to be guided by a clear and shared purpose: Creating spaces that support Community, Connection, and Family.  Grounded in our district motto Value the Past, Invest in Today, and Elevate the Future, this purpose ensures that every step forward is intentional, student-centered, and reflective of our community’s values.

With that foundation in place, we are pleased to share an important update in the process. Following a thorough and competitive selection process, the district has selected Ruscilli Construction Company to serve as our Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) for the next phase of our facilities work.

The district received proposals from several highly respected and capable construction firms, each with strong experience and credentials. The quality of submissions made the selection process both thoughtful and challenging. Proposals were evaluated using a comprehensive scoring framework that considered responsiveness to the request for proposals, preconstruction planning, construction-phase services, work sequencing, performance history, and the ability to anticipate and manage project challenges.

While each firm demonstrated strengths, Ruscilli consistently scored at the highest level across nearly all evaluation categories. Their proposal reflected a deep understanding of school construction, a clear and disciplined approach to cost and schedule management, and a strong emphasis on collaboration and transparency. These factors ultimately distinguished Ruscilli and positioned them as the best overall fit for Jonathan Alder’s facilities goals.

Ruscilli’s experience with complex K–12 projects in Ohio, combined with their proactive planning and problem-solving approach, provides confidence as we move from planning into design and construction. Their work will be closely coordinated with Steed Hammond & Paul (SHP), our selected Architect and Engineering firm, ensuring alignment from early design through project completion.

With this team in place, the district is well positioned to advance facilities that are fiscally responsible, thoughtfully designed, and focused on supporting teaching, learning, and community connection.

We remain committed to keeping families, staff, and community members informed through regular updates and opportunities for engagement as this work continues.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we build spaces that will serve Jonathan Alder students and families for generations to come.

In Gratitude,

James Miller, Ed.D.
