Strategic Planning Committee
The Jonathan Alder Strategic Planning Committee is very much focused on area growth and the vision for our future. The 20-plus committee representatives are updated throughout the school year and meet regularly to learn and plan for the economic development that will impact our district.
School District officials are in continuous dialogue with the Village of Plain City Administration as we prepare for the area growth. The school district is grateful for this formed partnership. Jerome Township officials are working in collaboration with the school district to inform and educate everyone involved how the school district is impacted by Union County.
Cooperative Strategies LLC, experts in area growth/development and enrollment division, continue to educate the school district on enrollment projections in order for the Strategic Planning Committee to make facility recommendations to the School Board. The committee work is a proactive approach and the district will be prepared for the future.
District Officials are in collaboration with the Village of Plain City Design Review Board in order to set plans for the old Plain City Elementary building/site. School Board members will be announcing the future vision for the property at 340 West Main Street before the 2023-24 school year.
SHP, a design firm that specializes in educational facility master planning, was hired by the School Board, and provides guidance to the district in order to make sound decisions throughout the process. It is by design that the Strategic Planning Committee will effectively assist and make recommendations to the School Board so that each decision made with regards to future and facility planning will positively impact and influence all students, staff and community.
All the work being done is directly aligned with our district One Word, TOGETHER. Together we will strive to provide the opportunity, flexibility and accessibility our students need to achieve, compete and succeed.

Jonathan Alder Strategic Planning Committee Master Planning - Thresholds Process:

The Master Planning process is designed to create solutions to the impact of increased student enrollment. The process defines population levels that once reached, require operational and facility changes in order to maintain or improve the quality of education and learning environments.
The development of solutions will use input from educators, administrators, community members and community partners to realize driving factors and financial impacts. The central effort is to make PROACTIVE planning decisions as opposed to being forced into REACTIVE decisions.
