On the evening of April 30, Monroe Elementary hosted its first-ever Children’s Day Celebration, an event designed to honor and celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our school community. This special evening was organized by our newly formed Cultural Group, a teacher leadership team launched this year with the goal of fostering inclusion and cultural appreciation.
The event was a tremendous success, with strong attendance from families across our school. Guests were invited to bring and share a dish that represented their cultural heritage, turning the evening into a delicious and educational potluck experience. In addition to the food, families enjoyed a variety of fun activities including yard games, face painting, and a talented balloon artist who kept our students smiling.
The evening concluded with a memorable performance by two Monroe students who showcased traditional Mexican dancing, followed by the exciting breaking of a piñata — a festive and joyful ending to a meaningful celebration.
We’re proud of our students and community for coming together to make this inaugural event so special, and we look forward to making it a Monroe tradition.
