MES students observing turtle

This week, the Ohio Department of Wildlife visited Monroe Elementary to teach students about what animals in Ohio do during the winter months. Their presentation connected perfectly with what students have been exploring during library learning stations the last few weeks.

"I liked to feel the bear's fur. It felt like my dog's fur," said Elaini Pitts, third grade student.

Students even had the opportunity to safely touch a snake and a turtle — with hand sanitizer right after, of course! "I enjoyed getting to pet the turtle because I used to have a turtle,” added fourth grader Hailey Troyer.

The students were highly engaged, asked great questions, and had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.
